The Fragrance of Life

This morning while walking to catch the bus to work I was running a bit early and I don’t like waiting long for the bus so I stopped to take in the sight of the early morning mist in the valley down from my street. All the leaves had a light coating of sugary dew drops, the mist was rolling down into the shady parts of the valley like a dreamer rolling around in bed just wanting ten more minutes in their warm cozy dream land. The birds were all warming their feathers and singing their morning songs, waking the bees so that they could begin the days harvest of perfumed pollen.

While watching all of this I inhaled a deep breath and it was as though I could smell everything around with a greater sense than ever before. The sweetness of the dew drops on the leaves, the warmth of the sun ushering away the mist, the light touch of pollen from the first blossoms of the day and all of that was served on the platter of morning birdsong. A scent I can’t say I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing before.

I’m not going anywhere with this, I just thought it was the kind of enjoyable experience that I’d like to read about, so I thought others might too.
